Claims Supervisor

This is a Full-time position in Lenexa, KS posted August 20, 2021.

Ready to join a rapidly growing, energetic, and dynamic organization? Hallcon is currently seeking a Supervisor, Claims, who will oversee the day-to-day activities of external program providers, including but not limited to: third-party claims administrators, defense counsel, and legal bill auditors.


Are you someone with the desire to play a crucial part in ensuring effective risk management? The right candidate is strong communicator with a high level of comprehension of contractual verbiage. Strong candidates will have the technical ability to utilize data to analyze workers’ compensation and auto liability claim costs, trends and cost savings to design cost management initiatives. A key aspect of the role also involves being the single point of contact coordinating with TPA, insurance carries, claimants, defense counsel and internal stakeholders.


This position will report directly to the Director, Safety & Risk Management, and will be a Hybrid position with some office time required. Travel requirements will be minimal.



Key Responsibilities


Critical accountabilities that will drive successful outcomes for this role and Hallcon include:


  • Design or modifying cost management initiatives in response to data analysis
  • Provide management oversight to workers’ compensation claims personnel
  • Participate in claim file reviews and audits
  • Manage return-to-work programs
  • Ensure workers’ compensation and auto liability claims are thoroughly investigated internally
  • Authorize defense counsel assignments, and approve surveillance and Medical Case Management assignments
  • Work closely with adjusters and attorneys on claim resolution strategies and settlement agreements
  • Clearly communicate with internal Finance and Human Resources teams relative to insurance claims and personal issues respectively
  • Other Risk Management department duties as required




Key attributes being sought for the Supervisor, Claims:


  • Ability to interpret policies, procedures, governmental rules and regulations
  • Knowledge of the tort legal system, litigation processes and investigation techniques
  • Ability to organize, schedule and prioritize while maintaining a high degree of confidentiality
  • Ability to use Origami Risk and Insurance Management Information Systems (RIMIS)
  • Has the cognitive ability to problem solve, resolve conflicts, and make decisions with sound reasoning


Education & Experience


  • Minimum of 5 years of Workers’ Compensation and/or liability claim handling experience
  • Bachelor’s degree – combination of college and professional certifications will be considered

  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel
  • Ability to understand and design data flow processes
  • Ability to administer multiple customer and internal needs, requirements and deadlines
  • High level of comprehension of contractual verbiage
  • Good communication skills and ability to clearly and concisely respond to customer questions and inquires and to articulate and explain contract application
  • Good knowledge and understanding of financial and accounting processes and procedures so to tailor reports and information that can be used for financial accounting needs
  • Can work well independently and as part of overall team
