3rd Shift Mechanic Lead – $5,000.00 Sign-On Bonus

This is a Contract position in Emporia, KS posted September 8, 2021.

Position Description: Lead Mechanic is responsible for overseeing all building and production related activities while assisting shift mechanics with trouble shooting setups.

Work with shift mechanics on identifying and documenting line maintenance issues.

Setup filling equipment based on production priorities.

Install, maintain, and troubleshoot various production equipment including but not limited to Un-scrambler, Pacific Rotary Filler, inline Fillers, Norden Tube fillers, Resina-Cappers, Label Machines, inkjet Coders, Vision systems, Conveyors, Pumps with a sound knowledge of mechanical, pneumatic systems, hydraulic systems, electric and automation systems.

Performs the Preventive Maintenance, Scheduled Maintenance, change overs, equipment rebuilds and support production to ensure quality and efficiency.

Essential Functions: Provide training and leadership across all levels of the maintenance department Training and Leadership includes but is not limited developing and documenting critical set-up parameters, maintenance procedures and training documents.

Certifying and documenting the performance of subordinate mechanics.

Maintain/repair and perform non-standard/critical adjustments on primary equipment.

This includes but is not limited to labelers, fillers, cappers, coders, tape machines, glue machines and unscramblers.

Document filling / capping equipment issues, incorrect setup instructions.

Follow-up and validation of instructions is required to ensure a resolution is in place.

Support production lines by building piping from pumps to tank and/or production lines, assist in cleaning and sanitizing of parts needed for tank and line building.

Cleaning and sanitizing filling high speed filling lines in accordance with company GMP’s.

Attend trouble calls and support production to ensure standard quality & efficiency and minimize all down time.

Work closely with engineering to assist them in Line trials and other complex projects.

Also work with Engineering manager, supervisors and lead on continuous improvement projects to improve productivity, safety and quality Requirements: 5 years’ experience in a leadership role within the manufacturing industry.

Experienced in liquid filling with a strong with a strong knowledge of mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, automation systems and some basic of electricity.

Experience in trouble shooting complex machinery/systems and rebuilding various production equipment.

Must successfully complete a written evaluation including English and Math Must pass the mechanical aptitude test Must be familiar with Resina Cappers & labelers, rotary & in-line fillers, Hot Air Norden Tuber Fillers, Design A-Seal and Videojet Coders Strong Knowledge of Lock Out/ Tag Out and GMP Must be able to use all shop equipment, production equipment, typical mechanic’s tools, and inspection gauges, ladders and gauges properly.

Must be able to work on ladders, scaffolds, and in pits Must be able to lift 50 lbs.

intermittently; heavier parts are lifted using other methods.

Must be willing to work on any of the 3 shifts, and available for OT when necessary Experience in alcohol filling is a plus Machinery & Tools essential to perform job functions: Standard and Metric Box, Open-End, Socket-Head, Compression and Crescent Wrenches, screw drivers, torx bits.

Standard and Metric Socket set.

Preferred Education: High School diploma or equivalent
