Manager of Network Engineering


This is a Contract position in Kansas City, KS posted August 28, 2021.

N-Com, a telecommunications engineering and consulting division of John Staurulakis (JSI) based out of Lubbock, TX is looking for a qualified individual to join our Austin, TX team as Manager of Network Engineering.

Manager of Network Engineering will be managing a group of talented network engineers and technicians designing, implementing and troubleshooting network equipment and systems for telecommunication companies and ISPs.

Responsibilities: Work closely with and provide advice and guidance to a team of network engineers and technicians Contribute to all parts of the employee life cycle, including recruiting, hiring, managing and mentoring Manage multiple projects and resources simultaneously, define good quality control measures, and be responsible for each project’s technical aspects Analyze and design IP broadband and telecommunications networks for ISPs Implement network designs and configuring network equipment/related systems Directly work with ISPs to troubleshoot issues in existing networks Consult on network stability, resiliency and cybersecurity for service providers Document and diagram networks, relevant processes and troubleshooting steps Communicate technical concepts in a clear and understandable manner Keep up with industry developments, new technologies and best practices Improve knowledge and expertise through independent research, practice and industry accepted certifications Qualifications Advanced knowledge of networking concepts Exposure to multi-vendor network environments
– Cisco, Calix, Adtran, Infinera, Ciena, Juniper Proficiency with Linux and Microsoft Server operating systems Good oral and written communication Experience coaching and mentoring others on best practices in network design, optimization and security considerations Ability to work as part of a team Excellent problem-solving skills Ability to work on multiple projects Attention to details and good judgment Desire to learn and apply what you learn immediately Cisco CCNP Certification or equivalent is a plus Education and Experience A Bachelor degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, Network Engineering or matching work experience.

Requires 5-7 years of experience designing and implementing large IP networks.

Requires a minimum of 3 years of experience managing network team(s).

Minimum of 5 years of experience working for or directly with telecommunication providers/ISPs.

Job Type Full time, supervisory Some travel required Applicant must be authorized to work in the U.S.
