Our location in Irving, TX currently has an opportunity for a Senior Electrical Engineer .

WHAT YOU’LL DO The engineer will be responsible for design projects related to diverse electronic systems, printed circuit boards, and peripheral devices.

The engineer will work extensively with cross-functional team members from System Engineering, System Integration, Manufacturing, Field Service, Design Quality, and Supply Chain to support the in-vitro diagnostic product lines.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES Designs innovative solutions to address obsolescence, reliability, manufacturing, and cost reductions for electronic systems.

Completes design projects while meeting schedule, cost, and quality requirements.

Works with suppliers during development to ensure product manufacturability (DFM) and testability (DFT).

Troubleshoots and performs root-cause analyses on product failures occurring in design verification, manufacturing, and field.

Occasionally travels to suppliers, customer sites, or manufacturing sites.

Reviews, generates, and approves product drawings, schematics, layouts, and specifications.

Evaluates supplier capabilities.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE YOU’LL BRING REQUIRED Bachelor’s degree in electrical/electronic engineering or related engineering field or an equivalent combination of education and work experience 4 to 6 years relevant work experience PREFERRED 8 years relevant work experience Experience designing mixed-signal systems Experience designing control and digital communication subsystems Experience with programmable logic devices and microprocessors Experience designing motor control and temperature control circuits Experience with position, proximity, and pressure sensors Experience with EMI/EMC, ESD, and transient suppression Effective communication skills, both written and verbal Familiarity with PCB assemblies, layouts, fabrications, and PCB manufacturing Experience working in an FDA-regulated environment WHAT WE OFFER At Abbott, you can have a good job that can grow into a great career.
